It’s all about the bum!
Your bum muscles, collectively known as your glutes, are one of the largest muscle groups in your body.
You can do cardio until you’re blue in the face, but you will not get a great bum unless you do weight training.
The squat is often rated as the best glute movement, hence all the instagram pictures of endless girls squatting. Believe it or not 🤔 The squat is NOT superior to the deadlift! (specifically for glute development🍑)
Deadlifts are a hip-dominant movement that target the posterior chain primarily (hamstrings, glutes, lower back, erector spinae, and core muscles.)
Squats are a knee-dominant movement that target the quads, as well as hamstrings and glutes.
In order to get a great bum and legs, it is important to incorporate BOTH the squat and deadlift into your workouts on a weekly basis.
Always make sure of correct technique and posture. If you aren’t sure ask someone who can help you. Both these movements can cause serious injuries to your knees and back if executed in a careless manner. Always start with lighter weights and progress as your body allows you to.
